Bull Chief

Chief Medicine Crow
by Ken West

MEDICINE CROW was the patriarch of the Medicine Crow family now living in Montana.

Chief Medicine Crow was probably the most famous of the crow chiefs. This particular photo is used by many artists and was probably taken in the late 1800's. The Apsaroke or Crow were known for their scouting prowess and were a peaceful nation who made extra efforts to co-exist with the white settlers. The Apsaroke were and are the proudest of Indians and were said to excel in stature and bravery. No one surpassed them in their devotion to their clan and their beliefs. The Crow Reservation consists of approximately 2 million acres and is located in Montana.

The original of this piece is available. This is a very large graphite painting and is absolutely beautiful.
